If there are multiple possible translations, there is a high probability that Déjà Vu will choose the correct one. The translator need not worry about multiple matches – Déjà Vu takes the context of the segment into account. Guaranteed correct reuse of segments (“matches”) Multilingual projectsĭéjà Vu can accommodate an unlimited number of target languages in the same project, and the TM can be used in both directions between all languages. This facilitates simultaneous collaboration, as our translators can see what the others are doing in real time. In Samtext’s version of Déjà Vu, the TM is stored on an online server, which means it is available to all our translators around the world. Compatibilityįiles, TMs and TBs created in other CAT tools can be imported and exported directly, without any complicated conversion operations. Quality assuranceĭéjà Vu automatically checks that the terminology used in the translation is consistent, and that the numbers and values in the source text correspond with those in the target text. In Déjà Vu, the text is displayed in a WYSIWYG preview window, helping the translator to understand the context that surrounds the text. Any text formatting, such as bold, italic and underlining, is replaced with codes. In most CAT tools, the text is displayed in a table, with the source text segments on the left and corresponding target segments on the right, as shown above. While this obviously needs to be checked by a translator, it still saves a great deal of time. If no exact match for a segment exists in the TM, Déjà Vu uses relevant sentence fragments, terms and sentences with similar structures to piece together a translation. Greater reuseĪll CAT tools have their own databases, which are known as translation memories (TMs). Déjà Vu has a more advanced TM than the TM systems you usually find in other CAT tools. Deja Vu has 1 job listed on their profile. These glossaries are known as termbases (TBs). View Deja Vu Translation and Interpretings profile on LinkedIn, the worlds largest professional community. It is simple to construct glossaries for translation projects, or import terminology from existing glossaries in other file formats, such as Excel or Word. Importing different file formats into the same project is simple, and the tool can work with these different formats, such as Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign, HTML and XML, as if they were a single file. Projects with multiple files and formatsĭéjà Vu can handle an unlimited number of files in each project. For example, how does the software handle hidden text in Excel, or process a hundred XML files contained in one immense folder structure, or deal with four files in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and InDesign formats that need to be translated simultaneously?ĭéjà Vu handles all the routine operations, such as saving as you go, reusing previous translations and established terminology, and checking for quality and consistency, so that the translator can focus all their efforts on the translation at hand. The difference between them is in the details. It then searches for any segments that are repeated or that have already been translated, checks that individual words have been translated consistently, and can perform a hundred other functions that save the translator time.Įxamples of CAT tools include Déjà Vu, SDL Trados, memoQ, TransStudio, Wordfast and Wordbee. The software works by splitting the text to be translated into segments. “This usually occurs indoors, in a well-ventilated room where beans are placed on racks,” McCollum says. “It’s when the beans start to change from green to brown, and start to develop aroma,” he says.įrom there, the beans undergo alternating periods of sun drying during the day and sweating at night, a journey that lasts between five and 15 days and ends with a period of slow drying. They're then blanched in hot water to halt fermentation and placed in large containers to sweat for 36 to 48 hours. After harvesting, McCollum explains, vanilla beans are sorted and graded. So it’s equally important to know to manage the plants once they bear fruit. Moreover, the vanilla aromas and flavors we know and love don’t reveal themselves until the crop is cured and dried. Smallholder farmers … have an absolute sixth sense as to when the orchids will bloom.” Many farmers have been growing vanilla for three to four generations. “You can’t just put seed in the ground, tend to it and expect it to produce a yield. “Vanilla requires a fair amount of skill to grow,” explains Tim McCollum, co-founder of Madécasse, a direct-trade chocolate and vanilla company. Nearly all of the vanilla produced commercially today is hand-pollinated. But despite growing demand and a robust crop, the tremendous amount of time and energy that went into cultivation and processing affected farmers’ ability to supply the market-and continues to do so today. The spice quickly found its way into cakes and ice cream, perfumes and medicines, and was valued for its intoxicating flavor and aroma. This proliferation helped whet the world’s appetite for vanilla. His technique spread from Réunion to Madagascar and other neighboring islands, and eventually worked its way back to Mexico as a way to augment the vanilla harvest pollinated by bees. In 1841, an enslaved boy on the island named Edmond Albius developed the painstaking yet effective hand-pollination method for vanilla that is still in use today, which involves exposing and mating the flower’s male and female parts. (A recent study, however, suggests that Euglossine bees may actually be the orchid’s primary pollinator.)įive years later, on the island of Réunion, a 39-mile long volcanic hotspot in the Indian Ocean, everything changed. Growers couldn’t understand why until centuries later when, in 1836, Belgian horticulturist Charles Morren reported that vanilla’s natural pollinator was the Melipona bee, an insect that didn’t live in Europe. Vanilla was cultivated in botanical gardens in France and England, but never offered up its glorious seeds. The Spanish conquest of the Aztecs in 1519 brought the fragrant flower-and its companion, cacao-to Europe. After conquering the Totonacan empire, the Aztecs followed suit, adding vanilla to a beverage consumed by nobility and known as chocolatl. The Maya used vanilla in a beverage made with cacao and other spices. While the Totonac people of modern-day Veracruz, Mexico, are credited as the earliest growers of vanilla, the oldest reports of vanilla usage come from the pre-Columbian Maya. Long before Europeans took to vanilla's taste, the creeping vine grew wild in tropical forests throughout Mesoamerica. The work of hand pollination is painstaking, but not new. Consumers’ insatiable appetite for this fragrant spice means that an estimated 18,000 products on the market contain vanilla flavor today, with prices for natural vanilla hovering around $300 per pound. That’s a costly mistake for what has become one of the most beloved, lucrative spices in existence: vanilla. To wait too long or to damage the plant during pollination is to lose a precious flower that could have matured into a pod. “The swollen base matures into a green fingerlike seedpod-a fruit-that ripens yellow and eventually splits at the end.” If the union is successful, “the thick green base of the flower swells almost immediately,” as food writer Sarah Lohman writes in her book Eight Flavors. With thumb and forefinger, they push the segments into each other to ensure pollination. They use thin, pointed sticks to lift the delicate membrane that separates the male and female parts of the flower. The farmers move quickly through snaking vines, seeking out the pale, waxy flowers that bloom just one morning each year. The files however remain the same, so FCPX, QT, VLC, DAV GUI etc. The behavior is actually understandable, but since resolve is not doing that same operation in the GUI you've got dissimilar renderings. The reason QT does this is that it reads from the file header that it is in the R709 color space, then checks your system color profile (probably sRGB) and performs a Correction to display what QT thinks is proper. Nevertheless, you're not the first one having those issues, the pictures you've shown clearly indicate that QT is crushing stuff, so as I mentioned before, I would blame QT. Hum, I'm surprised you got the same problem with ProRes 4444, this one should behave differently. Attachments TESTS copy.jpg (967.39 KiB) Viewed 3761 times Here is the same clip which exported from Resolve and how it looks compared to the others.Īs you can see VLC/Resolve versions are more saturated and with milky blacks compared to FCPX/Quicktime version. Thank you for the posts which explain the "quicktime gamma shift bug" but Im not sure if it is that in my situation because as I said earlier the fcpx timeline and quicktime player match perfectly. The problem is that I get different colours while Im exporting from Resolve which only the VLC player can show correct this time. So mainly when Im using FPCX + quicktime everything is ok. Also the same file if I drop it in the FCPX timeline, it will have the same colours just when I open it with Quicktime. The same file which has been exported from Resolve, has different colours when I will open it with Quicktime player and the same colours when I will open it this time with VLC. I have tried Prores HQ, LT, 4444, h264 etc.The issue is not hiding behind a codec this time I think. Second which one of these 2 is the right one to trust for my colour grading? So final I have 2 questions to help me understand a few things.įirst is there any gamma difference between fcpx/quicktime and resolve/vlc to explain the difference between these 2? So the next step was to think why I have this difference between quicktime player and VLC.The next step was to take that exported clip and put it into fcpx timeline and compare it with quicktime player.OMG this time fcpx and quicktime was an absolute match! just like with Resolve and VLC. So first of all I was having issues when I was exporting a clip from Resolve regarding to brightness. That translates that every clip after export was much brighter than what I was seeing on Resolve. After a research I found that I had to declick the choice "Use Mac display colour profile for viewers" from colour management tab. After that I could see same exposure but slight different colours when I was watching my exported clip to quicktime player. So I tried VLC for a change and I figured out that was exact the same as what I was seeing at Resolve.Phew that made me feel much better. You can write the letter in any format you choose but make certain to mention an appropriate heading. You may use a notarized letter template in any legal process as long as you draft it in standard form. Notarized letter 20 (18.00 KB) How do you write a notarized letter?Ī notary public can decline to notarize a notary template if they see signs of false identity or coercion of the person signing the letter. Usually, you would have to submit this letter along with the following documents: guardianship letter, proof of residency letter, child support, child travel, and other legal matters. A notary isn’t responsible for whatever you have written in your letter. The latter can help you draft an agreement or certify your actions. You should not confuse a notary with a legal expert. If the notary public observes signs of coercion or anything else suspicious, they might refuse to notarize the document. Moreover, it is also the duty of the notary officer to verify whether you have the capacity to sign the document. As a requisite by a notary public, you have to show proof of identity with a photograph or other official documents if required by the notary public. This isn’t a certificate that involves authorization but a simple piece of evidence that the concerned individual signed the documents genuinely. A notarized letter, therefore, is one authenticated through the signature of a person, done on his own free will at a given place and date. Notarization reduces the risk of a person challenging the fact that they signed the document. This makes the document more secure because you would sign in the presence of a notary public who verifies your identity. This means that you willingly signed the letter without getting pressured into doing so. The main idea behind notarization and using notary letter templates is authenticity. You can easily avoid this by using a notarized letter template then having it officially notarized. False transactions do a lot of harm and they might even lead to too much work for the courts. People who show signs of vulnerability can easily fall victim to unscrupulous characters. Aside from preventing fraud, notarization protects the rights of individuals who might as otherwise get exploited. Notary publics screen signers based on three things: their identity, their awareness, and their willingness. Notarization prevents persons from presenting an official document that one of the parties has forged. To notary public also sees to it that all parties involved are not intimidated or coerced into signing the document. The process ensures that the ones who affix their signatures are, in fact, the people they claim to be.īefore allowing the persons to sign, the notary public first confirms the identities of the signees through some sort of identification. In all instances, the presence of a notary public is a requirement for signing a notarized letter or any other document like a deed, contract or an agreement. Notarized letter 10 (12.12 KB) What does it mean to notarize a letter? On a test of vorpX again with the most recent version in February 2022, the tool did not seem to attach to Firestorm to provide VR capability.įinally, from 2019 Peter Kappler created his VR Mod to Firestorm code using the SteamVR headset independent approach (so it should work with any headset make) with the intention of making an easier to insert and hence maintain approach. It should work with Second Life, Firestorm and other virtual world viewers. VorpX allows some applications and games not specifically designed for VR headsets to work in 3D/VR mode. go back to VoidPointer’s last commit.Īlternative Approaches Using Generic VR Packages If they go back to their approach they must ditch all the mods made in that final summer – i.e. Basically it was rubbish when that version was released and that seemed to be an indicator to Philip Rosedale (still there at the time) that it should be scrapped as a development route. I understand a summer intern worked on it. Then they really ruined it in its very final version. I believe people will use 2D for most things and switch to 3D for the immersive experience when needed.īut it got put to one side as I think they thought frame rates could not be high enough. It assumed everyone would keep their headset on 100% of the time (as did Sansar and High Fidelity). The viewer did try (in my opinion) to put too much into VR mode… making lots of tools and windows/menus etc be in the 3D space. The viewer was in my opinion almost ready to go for users willing to make sure the frame rate was appropriate for the area being used. VoidPointer was a real enthusiast for VR and even was a kickstarter backer for the original Oculus. VoidPointer Linden developed the LL VR viewer through several versions and I worked with him at the time as things developed using the repository nightly builds and giving him a lot of feedback. Technical Approach: description to be on Discord commented… the CtrlAltStudio approach used variable focus based on distance to camera, adjusted to the scale of Second Life/OpenSim. His approach though is probably still the best we have seen. But it needed a lot of maintaining, so as soon as LL said they were doing a VR viewer he stopped development of CtrlAltStudio. This approach gave a really good crisp image. It was later amended when the Oculus Rift DK2 and software drivers appeared that allowed a more direct feed to the HMD. When the Oculus VR headsets first appeared, David Rowe amended CtrlAltStudio to do very nice VR support for the Oculus Rift. CtrlAltStudio also added gesture tracking with the Microsoft Kinect Sensor. It could also support the Nvidia 3D a active shutter glasses with 100Hz monitors (dithered between two images). The 3D Lab at the University of Michigan added 3D stereoscopic viewing capabilities to the Second Life viewer via a patch in 2007.įrom mid 2011 Kirsten’s Viewer added a 3D anaglyph (red/cyan glasses) viewer capability.įrom 2014 David Rowe in the CtrlAltStudio viewer added 3D stereoscopic capabilities for anaglyptic (red/cyan) glasses to modify Firestorm. They are collected together here for convenience. These notes were originally posted on the Discord Firestorm VR Mod channel to explain the history behind the various 3D and VR Viewers for Second Life and OpenSim.
